Welcome to St Ultan’s School Website

Dear Parents, Students and Friends,

St. Ultan’s School is a co-educational special school for pupils with mild general learning disabilities. There are currently 125 pupils in the school between the ages of 4 and 18 years.

The development of the whole person is the core philosophy that motivates and directs the work and vision of our school. We endeavour to nurture and encourage the academic, physical, social, spiritual, moral and emotional development so that pupils achieve their maximum potential for growth.

The main aims of our educational programme are to:

  • Enable pupils to develop their individual strengths, abilities, skills and talents to their fullest potential.
  • Promote and encourage each pupil’s sense of confidence and self-esteem.
  • Foster a sense of respect for other people and the environment.
  • Equip pupils with as many skills of personal and social competence that will enable them to live as independent a life as possible with as much participation as possible in their local communities.
  • Encourage attitudes and qualities such as a sense of responsibility, co-operation, tolerance and empathy that will enable pupils to contribute as fully as possible in their local communities.

In St. Ultan’s we endeavour to achieve these aims by providing a positive, nurturing and supportive environment in which pupils can learn from a broad and balanced curriculum that includes academic, social, personal, vocational, sports and life skills programmes.

St. Ultan’s School is under the patronage of the Bishop of Meath. It operates under the rules of the Department of Education and Skills and is managed by a Board of Management.
