Senior students in St. Ultan’s School participate in programmes of learning, leading to FETAC Certification at Level 3.
Modules on offer in the school during the current school year are:
Nutrition and Healthy Options
Outdoor Vegetable Crop Production
Certification is achieved through continuous assessment and the compilation of portfolios of work in each module/subject. All students’ work is assessed during both internal and external examination processes. FETAC programmes of learning have been adopted in this school as they can appropriately accommodate individual programmes of learning that meet each student’s needs, interests and abilities. They also facilitate the development of functional literacy and numeracy skills as well as a broad range of other skills and knowledge that are important to the promotion of life skills to enable independent living and vocational opportunities.
Students may undertake programmes of learning that will lead to:
Minor Award/Component Certificate – awarded on successful achievement of a module or group of modules
Major Award, i.e. General Learning Certificate for achievement of at least eight modules including Mathematics, Communications and Personal Effectiveness.
FETAC is a national award body and pupils may continue to access additional FETAC programmes of learning in a wide range of post-school training and educational settings.
